Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a hand and arm condition that causes numbness, tingling and other symptoms. Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by a pinched nerve in your wrist. A number of factors can contribute to carpal tunnel syndrome, including the anatomy of your wrist, certain underlying health problems and possibly patterns of hand use. Bound by bones and ligaments, the carpal tunnel is a narrow passageway located on the palm side of your wrist. This tunnel protects a main nerve to your hand and the nine tendons that bend your fingers.

Compression of the nerve produces the numbness, tingling and, eventually, hand weakness that characterize carpal tunnel syndrome. Fortunately, for most people who develop carpal tunnel syndrome, proper treatment usually can relieve the tingling and numbness and restore wrist and hand function. Since Connecticut Disc and Laser Therapy Centers joined forces with the Class IV high-powered Diowave (www.diowavelaser.com) and Litecure Lasers (www.litecure.com), treating carpal tunnel syndrome successfully and innately without injections, medications, or surgery is now an option. Combined with other modalities, laser therapy has been demonstrated to bio-stimulate tissue growth and repair, which may help with pain reduction and expedite the overall healing time.

What is Class 4 Deep Tissue High Power Laser Therapy?

Photobiomodulation, or Laser Therapy, uses wavelengths of red and near-red lights to stimulate therapeutic results. These results include decreased swelling, pain reduction, improved healing time, and increased circulation. Laser Therapy is being used extensively in the United States since it’s clearance by the FDA in 2002. In practice nearly 30 years, the technology has become such that we can heal many tissues faster.

Cellular & Therapeutic Effects

When photons of therapeutic laser light interact with cells the result is Laser Therapy. Higher ATP (adenosine tri-phosphate) levels are produced during this treatment which increases cell membrane permeability and lymphatic and blood vessels are vasodilated. These outcomes allow your body to increase cellular health and energy as well as other benefits.

Laser Therapeutic Effects

Laser energy draws oxygen, nutrients, and water to damaged areas during each treatment session. This creates an ideal healing environment and reduces stiffness and pain, muscle spasms, and inflammation. Full function is restored and the pain evaporates. This treatment promotes:

  • Anti-Inflammatory Effects

  • Accelerated Cell Reproduction and Growth

  • Improve Tissue Repair and Healing

  • Analgesic Effects

  • Immune Stimulation

  • Improve Circulation

  • Increased Metabolic Activity

  • Muscle Relaxation

  • Stimulation of Nerve Regeneration

  • Improved Vascular Activity

Laser Therapy is proven to biostimulate tissue, enhance repair and growth, and decrease inflammation and pain. When it comes to pain management, Laser Therapy treatments are very safe and may provide dramatic results.
