Pulse PEMF · Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy
A non-invasive electromagnetic treatment used as part of individualized care for selected musculoskeletal, joint, nerve and soft-tissue problems.
Pulsed electromagnetic fields
Pulse PEMF applies pulsed electromagnetic fields to a targeted area without needles or mechanical impact. We use it selectively based on your symptoms, examination findings and treatment goals.
The technology
During treatment, controlled pulsed electromagnetic fields are directed to the selected area. The experience is non-invasive, and treatment can be incorporated into a broader plan for appropriate musculoskeletal and nerve-related conditions.
Unlike EmField Pro, which is designed to create stronger neuromuscular stimulation, Pulse PEMF uses a different electromagnetic application and may serve a different role within the overall treatment plan.
The treatment experience
Treatment is performed in the office while you relax. The intensity and application are selected according to the area being treated and your individual tolerance.
We first determine whether Pulse PEMF makes sense for your condition and whether another technology may be more appropriate.
The electromagnetic field is applied to the selected treatment area using the appropriate applicator and settings.
Typical sessions are approximately 20–30 minutes, depending on the area and treatment plan.
No mechanical impact
Pulse PEMF may be used on its own or paired with other non-surgical technologies when clinically appropriate. Treatment selection depends on the problem being evaluated.
A broader treatment plan
The goal is not to put every patient on the same machine. Pulse PEMF may be considered when its treatment characteristics fit the problem being evaluated.
Depending on the case, it may be used alongside MLS Laser Therapy, spinal decompression, rehabilitation or other non-surgical care.
Selected applications
Pulse PEMF may be considered as part of care for selected musculoskeletal, joint, muscle and nerve-related complaints. Appropriateness is determined during your examination.
May be incorporated into care for selected back and soft-tissue complaints.
Explore back pain ›May be considered when muscular or musculoskeletal factors contribute to neck symptoms.
Explore neck pain ›Used selectively as part of non-surgical care for appropriate joint complaints.
Explore knee pain ›May be considered for selected muscle tension, strain and soft-tissue complaints.
Evaluated individuallyMay be incorporated into treatment plans for selected nerve-related symptoms after evaluation.
Evaluated individuallyMay be used as one component of a broader recovery-focused treatment plan.
Evaluated individuallyDifferent technologies. Different jobs.
Pulse PEMF, EmField Pro and MLS Laser Therapy use different forms of energy and can serve different roles within a treatment plan.
Pulse PEMF
A non-invasive electromagnetic application used selectively for appropriate musculoskeletal and nerve-related complaints.
EmField Pro
Designed to create stronger neuromuscular stimulation without mechanical impact.
MLS Laser Therapy
Uses therapeutic light energy as part of a non-invasive approach for selected musculoskeletal conditions.
Technology + clinical judgment
Pulse PEMF is not used as a one-size-fits-all treatment. Every new patient begins with a consultation and examination with Dr. James Dalfino to determine what may be contributing to the problem and whether this technology is appropriate.
Research & studies
We maintain a research and studies section for patients who want additional background on the technologies used in our office. Published research should be interpreted in the context of the specific device, condition and individual patient.

PEMF stands for Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy. The system delivers controlled electromagnetic pulses to a selected area of the body as part of a non-invasive treatment approach.
The treatment experience can vary with the applicator, settings and area being treated. Most sessions are designed to be comfortable and do not involve needles or mechanical impact.
Typical sessions are approximately 20–30 minutes, depending on the treatment area and individual plan.
It may be considered as part of care for selected joint, musculoskeletal, muscle and nerve-related complaints. The appropriate treatment is determined after evaluation.
Yes, when clinically appropriate. It may be paired with technologies such as MLS Laser Therapy or incorporated into a broader treatment plan.
Both use electromagnetic energy, but they are different applications. EmField Pro is designed to create stronger neuromuscular stimulation, while Pulse PEMF may be used for a different treatment objective. The choice depends on the condition and examination findings.
Yes. New patients begin with a consultation and examination so Dr. Dalfino can determine whether Pulse PEMF is appropriate and whether another treatment may make more sense.
